So it’s theorized that Adam and lutes masks were glitching out because they attacked hellborns with the intent to kill, which goes against the contract they have with Lucifer. (Dazzle the dragon lute killed is hellborn, and Charlie ofc is hellborn.) it’s also theorized that with the breaking of the contract it allowed Lucifer to actually step in and fight back. That before they did that he couldn’t interfere.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I would definitely recommend also watching the “official” video for the song ‘Addict’; it’s the same kind of almost-canon as the pilot, sung by the original cast members, and covers Angel and Cherri’s backstories a little more.

So, as far as Alastor's magic is concerned, he originally was going to be tightly tied to Voodoo practice. It's always been in his aesthetic. Look at the imagery when he does a deal with Charlie in episode 7. That being said, the specificity of voodoo symbolism has been scaled back dramatically from what was intended, since it's rather controversial to depict. You see, Voodoo is a real practicing religion, and it considers itself closed; that is to say, they find it offensive if you depict it outside of actually practicing it (Or recording it historically). This is compounded by the fact that Hollywood and Christianity have demonified the practice, and, indeed, Alastor's depiction plays into that. Vivzie has been working on Hazbin Hotel for years, and I don't think there was any malicious intent behind Alastor's depiction. Indeed, she's clearly taken the course correction to heart, and, like I said, made efforts to clearly make it more vague than his depiction in the pilot. Ultimately, his aesthetic at this point somewhat informs too much of the character's identity to ever be fully divorced from it's origination, and I think it's up to the individual whether they find his aesthetic offensive or not. You're always going to have some conservative person from a closed religion find it offensive (I'm pretty sure there are Catholics that find Hazbin Hotel's depiction of hell offensive), so the balance of respect is a personal judgement call here. In any case, this is all drama from the pilot that is old hat at this point. TL;DR - Alastor's really cool aesthetic is based on voodoo and W*nd*go aesthetics that some people find offensive, but has been made a bit vaguer and generalized in the series proper to better differentiate itself from its inspirations.

In regards to Alastor's little bit in that song, he's just talking about him being trapped in his own deal with someone we don't know the identity of, and "unclip my wings" is a common phrase. It can be assumed that Alastor's deal is restricting his power in some way, so that is what he means when he says "once I figure out how to unclip my wings". His deal is restraining him and he desperately wants to escape it. Nothing to do with him being an angel or fallen angel. Just so you know :)

There are other's, but these are so freaking good and I think some of them have even been acknowledged as being canon backstory? If you don't want to do that, completely fine of course!
