Idk about the other Americans in the comments, but I feel like we had a decent amount of school shooting/bomb threats when I was in highschool. Football players & cheerleaders were there and could be dicks but they didn't have much public influence, everybody kinda kept to their own crowds

To remember the friendly heather we refer to her as heather Mac and cheese. When we went to see the tour my daughter went as heather Mac and cheese. The actor waved at her at the end of beautiful and when we met she was like you where sat near the front, I saw you at the beginning. I prefer blue to your welcome.

From what I remember being in Highschool (and cause I'm US), jocks and especially football players always became dicks cause they had the ego trip. The schools always used them for notoriety and a lot of times (least in my experience) money would go to the sports before academic even. Plus a lot of teachers ended up also being coaches so the jocks could get away with a lot more when it came to grades, how they treated other kids. There's been a couple cases I know of off-hand where teachers have complained that the school forced them to bump jock grades up or keep them from failing or something because the players were so important. It's the thing that horrified me constantly, having AP (which is college level) class textbooks that were literally falling apart and duct-taped together, but then we had a brand new football field that same year! Shows how important you feel as a non-athletic kid.

Essentially football players/jocks have a reputation of being dicks because they get this teenage power/popularity ego trip a lot of times. Lol. I don't know about these days but back in the day it was a definite thing. Football coaches were also infamously dicks so maybe it was taught. A lot of school activities were built around football games.

First I'm so happy you are looking into this musical as its one of my favorites. Fun fact: Soccer was a British term first. Rugby Football and Association Football where created to differentiate the two styles of sports. Rugby sometimes being called Rugger and Association becoming Soccer taking the Soc of association and adding -er like done in Rugby being Rug -er.
