Nice Work Rarity
Gilda tapped the edge of her knife on the bottom of her bill. Behind her was a large, open cardboard box that had been sent to the griffin by Ponyville's finest fashionista. Gilda was now wearing the contents of the package and was admiring herself in a full length mirror. Slowly she turns back and forth admiring how snug black leather outfit flattered her figure. After a couple of minutes she spoke aloud to the empty room."Nice work Rari...
Roxanne Wolf Study
This is a study piece for an upcoming patron reward. One of the characters in the drawing will be Roxanne Wolf from the eighth installment video game series 5 Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach. LinkThis is not exactly what the character looks in the game. I was granted some liberty to adapt the figure so she'd work better with the other character in the piece.
Afternoon Nap
A commission for Peruserofpieces. There's a question that routinely comes up concerning my Equestria dreamscape. Since my ponies are much more realistic appearing than they are in show what does their downstairs gear look like and is generally visible since most ponies don't wear clothes. And when ponies do they wear clothes the garments often don't cover that part of the body. Well to answer the question is yes it is visible. However...
February 2022 Thumbnail Dump
Recently I've posted developmental thumbnails for an upcoming Celestia color commission Link, Link. Thumbnails sketches are useful, powerful tool that let you explore concepts without committing to a finished piece. For every finished drawing and painting you've seen posted by me there is probably 4 to 6 thumbnails I did in advance.Even if a thumbnail doesn't get use for the original purpose they may get recycle for other characters o...

Old Goat
One of the drawings from my most recent Picarto streams. Theme that evening was the zodiac animals of the Lunar New Year. Here he is with his much coveted magical bell.
Celestia's Sun Chariot thumbnails 01
Baron's Art Tips. Don't mentally view an image from just one angle, consider your possibilities. With any picture there's almost more than one viewpoint that you can decide to go with.Yesterday I posted some costume designs for a Celestia motorcycle piece. Link These are 3 possible general compositions that the piece may proceed with. Each one would emphasis a different feature or aspect of the composition. Now I'll see what the c...
Further character refinement and dress design.
Recently I posted some development drawings for an upcoming commission. Link The client was generally happy with the overall design but wanted me to lighten the area around the stallion's eyes. (Ah misunderstanding of instructions on my part.) So I did a quick head study to confirm that this was what the client wanted. Answer back was that this fixed the issue. However in picture will be the stallion's flamenco partner. So I needed to conf...

The Tiger of Cape Suzette
This was the first drawing I started during my most recent Picarto stream. The theme was the Lunar New Year and zodiac animals associated with it. 2022 is the year of the Tiger so I had to draw one, but I decided to take a stab at drawing a character who I haven't drawn in almost 30 years. Shere Khan from the 1990s Disney TV series Tale Spin.Khan Industries main headquarters was located in coastal city of Cape Suzette. Khan wasn't really ...

Bountiful
At the main entrance of the Ponyville's historical Farmers Market there stands a statue that was created to honor one of the Mane Six, and one of the most important families in the history of Ponyville. The Apple family.Applejack is in many way the iconic example of what makes earth ponies such an important part of Equestrian society. She radiated an aura of health, vigor, energy, and her strong connection to the land.Just as Royal Sisters Li...

A character from my anthro MLP dreamscape. Flying Fingers maybe finally getting a permanent 4th member to the band. Link Link This is Jersey Jill who often goes by the stage name Cowbell. Breakfast for three
The next 6 hours were a rollercoaster of emotions for Free n' Clear's in my Equestria dreamscape. What had started as a simple task of delivering some cookies to a pony she knew, admittedly with a bit of breaking and entering, had turned into a surreal adventure. LinkNow the filly had discovered that the mare named Heartbreaker, who she'd met just a short while ago knew the pony who'd led Equestria for the last thousand years. Pri...
It's a write off
Often the mark of a true professional is not how well they perform when everything goes right, but how well they perform when everything goes wrong. Coco Pommel illustrated that fact a while ago in my Royal Equestria Security Force, RESF, dreamscape.Coco Pommel stared silently down at the collection of wreckage that was strewn across a large table. Through the headphones she was wearing came the voice of Rarity her Operations Officer."Darling...
Is this the filly
Still levitating Free n' Clear along with the basket of cookies the filly had brought with her; Celestia stepped back into the bungalow, and then quietly closed the front door in my Equestria dreamscape. Through all of this the filly remained motionless and silent. Upon securing the door the princess looked over at the unexpected guest. Link"I'll be with you in just a moment dear. Please be patient. Understand?"The filly stared wi...
Anthro Stormtrooper Armor 01
I've got another Star Wars themed piece coming up. It's an anthro piece so I needed to come up with some stormtrooper armor for the piece. The patron has given me some wide latitude in the design, but I need to know where I'll be going with the piece. So I did these design sketches this afternoon.
Drummer Thumbnails 01
Baron's Art Tips. Even if you are absolutely certain that the image in your head is the one you're going to use for a finished piece of art, it never hurts to consider other possible options. These are 5 ideas I had for a Applebloom/ Flying Fingers piece. I ended up going with my original idea which was the middle left sketch. However I plan to recycle all the other poses for future pieces. Even if I use them with other characters.
Giving their advice
This is the piece I started during my most recent Picarto stream. This will be the art I will use to announce my upcoming streams this year. As is typical of them, both Petina and Carousel are offering their own ideas and suggestions for what I should draw.
Morning Stretch
A moment from my Anthro MLP dreamscape. Celestia's golden light spilled into the bedroom, heralding the arrival of another day. Discord stirred as he felt his wife awaking from her evening slumber. As was fairly typical Fluttershy was draped across the long torso of the draconequus. The Lord of Chaos was most certainly not a morning person, but he enjoyed watching the ritual that was now unfolding before his half-open eyes. The yellow chiffon ...
Dragonfire study sketches
Development art for an upcoming commission. The character is the client's OC Dragonfire and he's a flamenco dancer. Well here's how that came out.Tomorrow 1/22/22 starting at 5:30pm Pacific I'll be streaming again on Picarto. Hope to see you there!
Not who she meant to meet
It was a beautiful Sunday morning in my Equestria dreamscape. Free n' Clear's smiled as she clenched the handle of a cloth basket between her teeth and trotted to her destination. Until recently she rarely strayed over to this part of town, but since she'd met the mare Heartbreaker that had changed. LinkSince the filly had met the earth pony mare her life had been an emotional rollercoaster fluctuating between dread and exhilaration. ...
Morning company
A tingling sensation in Celestia's horn roused the princess from her slumber in my Equestria dreamscape. It was a feeling she was very familiar with; she'd felt it for over a thousand years. It was the magical connection to the celestial body that was the physical symbol of her office. It was reminding her that she needed to oversee the raising of the morning sun.Normally the Princess of the Sun would at this point rise from her bed and st...
The Flirty Farmer
