PROGRESS!
some new dolls just got done with their painting! HAIR! for Mettaton!
I start by cutting a big handful of lengths of thick acrylic yarn. I knot them around a dowel, flat iron them, then start brushing them out with a slicker pet brush. You'll lose a lot of fibers, but keep it around for stuffing. Above is before and after brushing. I cut the straightened yarn off the dowel, brush the blunt end to fan it out a bit, then lay it down on a sheet of silicone (which is on a board so I can move it around easier)I b...
METTATON EX progress!

Starting with the pink one, I give her some socks, simple cuffed tubes To make them tube socks, instead of painting, I take a thick needle and embroidery thread, knotting it in the back and wrapping it around twice for each stripe. Short was simple- two tubes for the arms, and the torso portion sewn directly on, with a strip of fabric folded in on itself and around the neck for the turtleneck collar. Bat bodies + new torso method
Skeletons. You know the drill Wrapped the midsection in yarn waste And now for my new method of making torsos. I start with a regular block of fleece, then pinch it around the waist, and cut slots to that pinch point, then sew it to the body I stuff yarn waste in to the top to give mass to the chest, and use a felting needle to get it all in. Bat ears and hair
I take those foam forms from last time and glue them down to some fleece, I cut them close but leave a tiny bit of room, where I hand stitch the pieces together for a smooth edge I drive sequin pins like nails through the ears and into the head piece- after it was fixed in place, I realized I didn't need the two edge tabs, and cut them off. Bat dolls (mostly) painted!
First off: ears!Trial and error is the name of the game. I sketched the shape I thought I wanted on paper, cut it out, held to the head and adjusted from there. Moved on to foam when I felt I had something good! Ended up with 3 tabs as attachment points- two on each corner, and one to pull it back into a curve. I'll be covering these in fabric- I opt to do foam and fabric because I won't have to worry about big ol sculpted ears snapp...

I got my bodies whipped up- they're kinda different styles, but hey, it's all jazz baby I needed her to have some skin showing, so I cover what's needed with stretchy white fabric I cut out a pants pattern piece I assemble the pants, and add a star shape to the white leg. I'm giving this one yellow hair pulled into pigtails, so I painted her scalp yellow I glued pink wefts around the hairline for streaks Then place yellow wefts around the hairline. Just one layer is all that's needed for the hairstyle I wrap wefts around a bit of wire to make ponytails I glue them into holes drilled into the head, pull all the rest of the hair to the ponytail, and rubber band it I cinch up some tulle to make scrunchies ...
