LGR Oddware - Diamond Trackstar, Apple II on PC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-6AKe2pvsQThis one's been a long time coming! For years I've been curious about the Diamond Trackstar series of cards from the 80s. And after a couple of pricey purchases and some items courteously on loan for this video, we've finally got a nice Oddware episode to show for it.So let's take a look at the Diamond Trackstar cards! These are effectively Apple II computers on an ISA card, bringing near...
LGR - Finishing the Oddware Tower
https://youtu.be/D1OEZ42yf_4IT IS FINISHED.More or less. There are always tweaks, swaps, and upgrades to consider. But yeah, the main build is complete with everything working as it should! Lovely to see so many ridiculous things all working together in odd harmony. I really love that Silverstone VFD now that I've used it, and it makes me wanna get a larger display along those lines to stick in a more modern rig.
LGR - Those Weird AliExpress PCs
https://youtu.be/6bODiZ5bP84Well this was inevitable! As soon as I saw these funky things online about a month ago I had to grab them. And of course, countless requests to cover them ensued as word spread around social media, tech news, enthusiast groups and so on. I know a number of others have covered them already since theirs arrived sooner, but once I received mine I found I still had things to say in a review. So we're checking out the Bo...

LGR - The Orpheus II Sound Card
https://youtu.be/vQfyQqo1644It's June! Already! Argh! Well here's a nifty thing that I've been meaning to cover since April, jeez.Checking out the Orpheus 2, a new 16-bit ISA sound card! Could this be the best retro sound card for PCs at the moment? An argument can be made for that, I feel. All the excellent features of the Orpheus I, like Sound Blaster Pro compatibility, a real OPL3, and on-board intelligent mode MPU – plus an inte...
LGR - The Bear-A-Byte PC
https://youtu.be/mQYL_88MOe0Now here's something truly unique.Greetings, all! After somehow acquiring this bizarre bear computer at the end of last year I've finally gotten around to restoring it and building it back up. And boy is it a sight to behold.Hope y'all have fun watching this one, as it's thanks to messages from a number of you that I even heard about this odd beast to begin with! And now begins work on another topic that...
LGR - The 99¢ 386! J. Bond A333CD
https://youtu.be/v2vc4ww1aVUThe name's Bond, J. Bond.Got a simpler video this week! Taking a look at this J. Bond 386 PC, a system that I bought years ago for a whopping 99 cents. I never did make the video I planned to back then but in hindsight I'm glad I didn't. You don't find deals on vintage PCs like this anymore, unfortunately. Also unfortunate is that this is another week where all my plans kinda fell apart. Ended up taking ...
LGR - 12 Drive Bays of Towering Oddware
https://youtu.be/kXlZXH4aQ5kFinally, a long-envisioned LGR project is coming together! For years I've wanted to get one of these huge cases with a ton of 5.25" drive bays and fill every single one with absurd and odd drive bay devices, creating a sort of Oddware Tower of Power. An Oddware museum? The Antec Tower of Absurdities? Still don't know what to call this thing, heh. Either way it's great to see it happen at last!Mostly anyw...

LGR Oddware - Cooler Master Musketeer III
https://youtu.be/Z0SQMVGQNLMFresh Oddware! And it’s another unusual 5.25” drive bay thing because these things are seemingly endless. This one in particular has been on my want-to-review list for years and I’m stoked to finally get to it.The Musketeer 3 is a vacuum tube audio filter thing, intended to add “warmth” to your PC’s sound card output. Or something like that, probably. In the end who cares, it also has a VU meter and just lo...
LGR - Building the GMC R-2 Toast PC
https://youtu.be/oebymh4WaUAGreetings, all! Got another project here that I've had set aside for years, and finally put it together this past week after retrieving all of the components from deep storage. It's a rebuild of the Altair 8800 Clone PC, with unused components from the Pyramid PC, and a unique Korean computer case from 2008. THE R2 TOAST. So-named for its patented 5.25" drive bay solution, which has the optical drive mounted...
LGR - NSYNC Hotline Fantasy Phone
https://youtu.be/kdv6nI-GBKsSo this is some silliness! What a thing to come back to after my time away at the MGC convention. This is one of those items I've had lying around for roughly a decade now, just sitting there on a bookshelf taunting me to cover it... and welp, for whatever reason this was the time!In hindsight, I have no idea why I covered this haha. It did not need its own video. But it was fun nonetheless, if only because I rarel...

The LGR Woodgrain 486 Saga
https://youtu.be/D9U03YbPGN4So yep, this is an experiment! As mentioned in the last Patreon post, I was considering making a kind of compilation video for this coming week where I'll be away. But I wasn't entirely sold on just a straight-up clips show with no context. So I added context! This is the complete saga of the LGR Woodgrain 486, from initial build to the latest updates, with new segments along the way. There's a fresh intro, n...

LGR - The IBM Music Feature Card
https://youtu.be/lyIBfjsTZcQGreetings and welcome to my last week and a half! From the moment this beautiful piece of 1980s computery goodness arrived I've been knee deep in its musical features. The IBM PC Music Feature has been on my most-want-to-review list for many years now. But I've been hoping to find one complete in box, and if you know anything about the rarity and value of the IMFC, well... that's a bit of a challenge. But th...

LGR - Three Weird Mice #5
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLls9MpXcpADang, it's been six months since I last did one of these episodes!Yeah I needed a bit of a simpler project this week while I work on other things, and these Weird Computer Mouse videos tend to do the trick. Just a fun change of pace every so often, too. Especially when there are somewhat surprising results as we ended up with in this one.And that's all this is, I hope you enjoy! I'll have the...
LGR - 1999 Commodore 64 Web.it Internet Computer
https://youtu.be/s2FMqsPnh5MGreetings folks! It's been a busy as balls couple of weeks here. From randomly appearing on CNN, to making a brief trip to visit the National Videogame Museum, to presenting to students at a local college. I initially began laying groundwork on it a good number of y...
LGR - Making My Own Trapper Keeper Art in Bryce 3D
https://youtu.be/EGIwcPA1_34Got a different one for y’all this time! This episode is all about Bryce 3D from 1997, a classic computer program letting you quickly create surreal ray traced imagery on your Mac or PC. It always makes me think of Trapper Keeper artwork from that specific era in the 90s, when school binders and folders were covered in shiny computer-generated shapes and weird sci-fi cities and things. So I figured that was a fun fra...

https://youtu.be/WCdDKPonXXAGreetings, folks! Today's been a strange one, ha. Woke up to that weird Chinese balloon flying overhead, got a pic of that while drinking my morning coffee. And the rest of the day was spent finishing this video up while the news went on about fighter jets and missiles off the coast... unusual times. So anyway, here's an old computer! An AST Advantage 600-series, specifically the 622 model from early 1996. I pur...
LGR Oddware - The CrossPad from 1998
https://youtu.be/UHC438sW_2QGreetings! Got some fresh Oddware for y'all: the Cross CrossPad.I received this several years ago now, but... while it seemed to be complete and in great shape externally? Internally it was a whole 'nother story. Both the pen and the tablet had fallen victim to some nasty battery corrosion after sitting in a closet for a couple decades before it was sent my way. So it went into the longterm LGR storage area fil...
LGR - Motocross Madness Retrospective
https://youtu.be/0qKGuboX1oAClassic game review time! This one is Motocross Madness from 1998, one of my longstanding favorites from back in the day. Some nice, happy, comfy memories with this one. I hope it brings some of that same feeling to you as well, it's still such a neat game world to screw around in and enjoy. Good ol' out of bounds invisible cannons, hehe. Now, I hardly cover games anymore because, one: they rarely perform super ...
LGR - Sharp PC-7000 from 1985
https://youtu.be/maHIj321p8MGreetings, all! Got a straightforward LGR retrospective on a classic machine right here. Nothing too wild or mind-blowing, just a neat old machine receiving some overdue cleaning and appreciation. A comfy place for me indeed.I found this one pretty refreshing to put together in its simplicity, so I hope that y'all enjoy to a similar degree. It was also really darned relieving to get through an entire week of filmin...

LGR - The Metalfish Aquarium PC
https://youtu.be/1xspMdiXFCYHere we are, the final LGR episode of 2022. Already! What a whirlwind of a year it's been, I can hardly believe we're hitting 2023...And what a sendoff to the year we have here: the Metalfish Y2. It's a 3.5-gallon fish tank PC case that fits a Mini-ITX motherboard, a GPU, some fans and a little SSD, and that's about it. As soon as I saw it online it looked like prime LGR material. And it's built to ...
