Crinoid walkthrough
Sorry, missed to put this out there yesterday! :Dhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/15904014And I kinda stressed through it a bit to force myself into some better flow, but I might have been a bit unclear about certain parts due to it - either way, any feedback is appreciated on any of this stuff... Hard to get better without honest feedback so don't be afraid to be brutal if you need to, hehe! :D
Crinoid setup walkthrough
So I was going to record this yesterday but gut stuck in other things - duh - so had to kinda stress through it now - but hopefully this will fill in any blanks about that setup. :)
Swimming Featherstar
So there was some pressure for me to release this scene file and who am I to argue against you guys, hehe, so here it is! :DScene file: www.bit.ly/ff_swimming_featherstar
Spring ball walkthrough!
The walkthrough is now available for the $1 Patreons for 3 days! :Dhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/15832172
Zero G liquid
Quick setup to answer a question - and not posting this on Patreon, not really an original setup, just a basic FLIP setup with some minor tweaking. :)Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_zero_g_liquid
Spring is coming
Just an idea I got and immediately had to test, of course. :)Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_spring_ball
Thrust vectors walkthrough
Dunno if you guy's get a notification when I move a post from one tier to another, but if you don't, I just moved toe walkthrough to the $1 tier for 3 days before I'm posting it openly on Vimeo. :)https://www.patreon.com/posts/15767692And ffs, feedback people - I need to know what sucks - or not - and what to change and/or get better at, etc... :D
Houdini - Thrust vectors (walkthrough)
Breakdown of the scene posted here: patreon.com/posts/thruster-15741264Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_pyro_thrust_vectors
Boolean edge patterns
Inspired by a setup posted by Paweł Grzelak in the Houdini Artists group on Facebook...Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_boolean_edge_patterns
Thruster velocities
Setup I did to answer a question on the Facebook Houdini Artists group, so no delay on this one...Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_pyro_thrust_vectors
Cellular grains scene walkthrough
Ok, so this is the first breakdown - or is it a walkthrough, perhaps - of one of my shared scenes and the idea here is to create a second $3 tier for people to have access to these 3 days before the $1 tier and then post then post them openly on Vimeo after 6-7 days...And I don't want to just do this for new, upcoming scene files but I also plan to revisit older setups as well - likely in conjunction with updating those scenes, for some as Ho...
Grain based cellular division
So someone posted a video of cell division in the Houdini Artists Facebook group and as I'm very obviously addicted to the grain solver on a biochemical level, I thought, why not use grains. :DScene file: www.bit.ly/ff_grain_cellular_division
Teasing an upcoming scene file...
Grain based circle packing. I'll include these setups in the file as well:Same setup: www.twitter.com/Farmfield/status/936726317105631232VDB to spheres: www.twitter.com/Farmfield/status/936754725860577280Edit: So I mistakenly put a dash instead of a point after the www of the first link and that linked you to some scam site - this is now fixed!! Sorry for that. :D
Water Balloon pop follow up!!
So, this was a couple of days later than I would have wanted, but I just wasn't happy with the FLIP, I just felt I wanted a better "look" than I had...Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_hanging_water_balloon_pop
Triangular growth
Created this for a question in the Facebook Houdini Artists group. :)Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_triangular_growth
Cubular dissolve fracturing "benchmark"
If anyone got time you can help me with a "benchmark" of sorts, just for fun...Unlock the voronoi in the cubular dissolve scene, disable/enable it so it cooks and when it's done, middle click the node and see how long it took to cook. Post it in the comments to this post with the CPU info. :)And my Ryzen 1800x takes 6.57s to cook that thing, that's just crazy! I really need to upgrade, very likely I'll get an i9-7940X after th...
Cubular dissolve
Just a quick setup I did while waiting for some simulations to finish, but it's kinda cool and you could of course build a bit more fancy system for activate the pieces, like activating the inner ones only after outer ones are activated or if you set a bias so higher pieces will be activated before lower ones - or you could use the alive attribute to remap piece color instead of the sice after it's activated, etc... There's lots of fu...
Animated gifs on Android/iPhone
Seems the gifs don't play in the mobile app on Android, does it on iPhone? And I'm gonna email Patreon, thats fukn abysmal. It's 2017, gifs are so prevalent in society the worlds biggest social networks has incorporated it into their platforms to such a degrees animated gif memes has become a valid form of communication... Insane they don't on Patreon... :(
And there is fliptastic progress...
So this thing is coming along and I'd say I'll drop the scene file by the end of the week - I'm finally on the right track for the water suction interaction look, though still a bit to go and I also need to clean the file up, se how much I can simplify down. :)
Upcoming scene file
So I was bored waiting for a FLIP sim of the balloon thingie so I started playing around with different dissolve ideas and here's a new variant where I basically dice the mesh to cubes and then activate them one by one and use POP forces with the bullet solver for the advection and collisions... The dissolve in itself is a combination of scaling each piece and using them as a POP source... And I'll drop the scene file tomorrow, I'd gu...
Balloon rubber sim spin-off
So working with the rubber contraction grains sims for the water balloon setup I've had some new ideas based on what I've learned and I wanted to tease this upcoming scene file share, a setup that will work for different kinds of paint breakup type effects, from this early test you see above to paint drying and flaking, paint stripper / heat (*) type looks where paint just crack up, crumple and start to fall off, as well as the traditiona...
2nd water balloon pop update
Strain simulation for improving the rubber contraction setup in the upcoming second water balloon pop setup. Gonna try to finish the grain sim setup for the rubber now and then jump back to the FLIP stuff and continue messing with that until I have "realistic enough" looking water behaviour... :D
Water balloon pop / tearing
So I was talking with Cojocaru Nicolae Gheorghe about the water balloon pop setup and as some might have seen, he posted a scene file here he created a better setup for the water behaviour along the edge, but as we were talking he posted another gif of a whanging water balloon popping which had been his inspiration, and as there was some stuff I thought of for the last setup, progressive tearing the biggest thing, I decided to solve both those th...
Water balloon pop using FLIP and grains
After posting a gif of my popping soap bubble revisit, I got a reply from the wildly talented Anthony McGrath about doing a water balloon pop and I instantly knew how I would set that up - and yeah, this is how. :DScene file: www.bit.ly/ff_water_balloon_ground_pop
Dynamics...
So as you might have realized, I haven't posted the grain/bullet/FEM looping setup yet, but sadly I gotta rethink that a bit because it becomes so insanely heavy when I remove the caching and try to run it in one go, and I also had some issues with it becoming quite unpredicable when you run it in one go, so either I have to set it up with the caching and clarify the order of caching, etc, or just do a tutorial on it - becuase I just can'...
Soap bubble pop
Been asked many times to set this up in Houdini, and today it was perfect timing with other RnD, so... :)Scene file: www.bit.ly/ff_soap_bubble_pop
Pyro dust wake setup
F**k yeah, I double dare you to create something simpler... :DScene file: www.bit.ly/ff_pyro_dust_wakeAlt scene: www.bit.ly/ff_pyro_dust_wake_sand
Point sort chain animation
So here's a couple of my favourite techniques combined... First generating the curve using the POP based differential curve setup, then using point deformation to bind it to an animated object, and finally using point sort based advection to create the flowing chain along the curve... :DScene file: www.bit.ly/ff_animated_chain_deformation
Upcoming scene file
So here's an upcoming setup with "looping" solvers, driving bullet and FEM with grains and feeding back the output as collisions for the same grain... I was hoping to get this post 1-2 days ago, but I just haven't had time to clean it up. I'm hoping to be able to put it up here tomorrow or friday. :)
Basic point deform setup
So this was discussed on Facebook and I did this quick setup for Billel... :)Scene file & mesh: www.bit.ly/ff_animated_point_deform
