Young Lynn & Lincoln || Sketches

Remember when I posted those 3D models of Lincoln's room? Well, it was so I could study the best way to portray this picture. These are the sketches that I showed the commissioner, and now I'm waiting on his response to continue. Gotta decide on YoungLynn (youngling, get it?)'s hairstyle and maybe their expressions.

Lincoln's Room 3D Model for quick references.

So, someone wanted to commission me a pic with Lincoln sleeping in his room, and we were trying to figure out the best angle to draw him in. Angles can be tricky sometimes, so I was like "You know what, I'll just do a 5 minutes SketchUp model for Lincoln's room so I can move the camera around".And it worked. Five minutes on a 3D modeling program, and now I have a pretty solid reference to get all the angles that I want/need.Of cou...

Maybe it's because in Architecture classes they teach us about perspective and I have practice drawing buildings and interiors, but there's something I just love about quickly sketching a background.

Jackiecoln and Sidcoln PSD files!

So here are the PSD files for my latest two drawings.The one with Lincoln and Sid is pretty straight forward. I think it's interesting tho how I did the background and the white outline. For curious people, at least.The one with Jackie really shows how I work with shading, and all the post-production effects I add to get a sunset vibe, lol.Hopefully this is useful for other artists who want to see how to do some stuff.
