🕑 Added 2024-05-24 16:00:25 +0000 UTCToday is a weird day since...even if there were a lot of changes almost none of them are visual....so there's not that many gifs I can make...and I don't wanna drag this with walls of texts so Imma try to keep it short:
The challenges grouping feature was finalized-ish (there's some edge cases left and its not exactly user friendly since it doesn't display errors if any happened yet) but it works and thats important.
Also these gifs are pretty beefy...sorry about that..on a nicer note that I'm not sure if anybody cares about patreon upped the size limit even more to about 5gb...so I could upload a 5gb gif and they'd be fine with it but adding support for webp is too much :( .
This one in particular just shows how closing the UI means you're disbanding the current party.
And this one shows how the flow actually goes in normal situations where the party is not disbanded before starting.
Anyway, the point being you can now form groups with up to 3 other players and go in challenges, as a small reminder, bosses to scale up with the number of enemies in a couple of way such as hp, toughness or global cooldown, some (not all sadly) even have special branches in their AI for multiple enemies scenarios such as prioritizing AOEs or targetting weaker enemies.
On a PVE related note this entire week I've been hard at rewriting all npcs spawn logic and tweaking it. The current pve vibe is extremely sour for many players due to lots of enemies randomly targetting you from hundreds of blocks away. And since posting a gif of enemies spawning is not exactly the most thrilling gif out there I'm just gonna enumerate the changes with some comments if necessary:
Lowered the spawn rates of Marine/Pirate/Bandit npcs
Snipers/Brutes will be even more rare now than before with Grunts taking up 90% of the enemies you encounter
They can only spawn during the day
Lots of work in making sure they only spawn "outside" as there were cases in the past in which they used to spawn in places that you and me could clearly define as "inside" but the game wouldn't agree with us
On the same note did a bunch of work to make sure there will be as few as possible bullshit spawns where you're fighting something and out of nowhere a random brute comes from the back and insta kills you, this will always have the chance to happen in any open world game but at the very least it won't be as common and you can make sure that npc didn't spawn specifically to kill you
On this note there were a bunch of new sounds added so players can have a better understanding of their environment and a lot of work put into sounds so they sound as if they're from afar or close (quite or loud depending on the distance)
On Easy and Normal difficulties marines will no longer target pirate/revo players if they don't have an issued bounty, on Hard they will regardless of bounty

Correct, not having a faction counts as "Civilian" however this is not visible as whenever you try to access the menu you'll get the character creator screen instead.
