Unbeknownst to Ashley and Sarah, and contrary to previous wands made by Tedd, the spells in this wand had a range to them.Not only was it not touch-based, the wand would effectively ignore anyone the tip of it touched, and target whoever else was closest.This was intended to make it so people didn't have to bonk themselves on the head with the wand to use it, but as demonstrated here, it might not have been entirely thought out.----EDIT - LOL...
