A Brief but significant geomagnetic storm! The problem is the C.M.E. associated with this storm was minor.
This is an example of what I had been predicting. 2023 will be intense. A kp index of 8 is rare. But since the turn of the year we have had two and generally we see these higher readings with major flaring, or moderate flaring that has combined with coronal hole streams. In this case, neither existed.
