I am pretty sure that Russian idiom does not have to do with being a favorite sister. Silly Briar!

Value Studies
Hello all! Today's study practice was drawing Miss Cori's Special (and above) patrons' characters with a focus on value studies!!! I really enjoyed this and learned a lot, and I can tell I got stronger throughout the day. (The pics above are displayed from last to first.)Thank you Nightshade89, Goldy, Frux, Whyaylooh, and Nicky for donating your characters! <3

This is one of my favorite pages to date!Coincidentally, the cast page on the sitehas been fully updated, with fresh bios, new information, more characters, and TfT links! So if you're like "What the heck, has Oakewood always been in his 40's???" ... no, but this is the result of Ari's and my months and months of work hammering the timeline into shape so that everything makes sense. Oakewood just suffers from poor health and t...

Whew!! More sisterly conversation! We wanted to make sure that it was clear that people don't change overnight... but that a good faith effort means the world. c:

A new page! A new place! A sad Bel!I'm trying something new with this background. I've saved it in background, midground, and foreground chunks so I can try doing some minor parallax in panels, to help with the illusion of them moving from place to place. It's not in full view on this page yet, and with luck it won't actually be that noticeable (why do I do this to myself), but I'm excited to play around with it and see what h...

A conversation!!!I'm posting two pages at once this time because I am Tired(tm) and y'all will just have to read it through the subpar reading experience lol Sorry :')Edit: Oh! As it turns out, sometimes you say things you sort of regret.
Aurora Rider
I decided to study some dynamic posing, and noodle a little more on my coloring process! It didn't turn out entirely the way I wanted but that's okay! I had fun and I'm still proud of it.

Aw, Briar is struggling with fee-fees.
Nick and Kennedy - 10 Years Update
Once upon a time, long before Tamberlane, I worked with my friend Sam on a webcomic called Walking on Broken Glass. Today was her birthday, so I decided to (conceptually) redraw an old piece from the time that I really liked, as a birthday gift!Sadly, WoBG is no longer on the net due to a series of tech failures, but enjoy the ~improvement~ of over a decade! Here's a favorite piece from when WoBG was still going:
Happy Birthday, Scott!
Scott, of Star Warriors, had her birthday today! So I took a quick break and made this for her, which turned out amazingand I'm very proud of it. Enjoy the sparklies!!

True friendship.
Shapes Exercises
There's a drawing exercise where you make random shapes on a page, and then try to turn those shapes into pictures. I decided that would be a fun thing to do today, and here are the results! I've been trying to draw on real paper more and it's been a joy to reconnect to my doodly past. Hooray!
Finley
No Create What You Want Friday for me today because I have my monthly "medically go to space" procedure and I will be recovering all day. So in lieu of that, have a sketch I did earlier this week of Finley!Finley is the kid of my husband's and my RP characters, Jason and Amber (the cuddlebus, for those who think of her that way). He's a cat dryad and a mischievous lil cutie.

And so we transition to a new set of characters -- Briar's friends! We've been dying to share these characters for YEARS, so I'm so glad you get to properly meet them now!Thank you to Melody (Bast), DireTaco (Reno), and Jared Dark (Der) for your cameos!

Had a great time on this page :3 Probably one of my favorite sequences. I haven't done a lot with Clip Studio Paint's screentones functionality so it was also fun to stretch my muscles with the first panel!Thank you to Izzy for flatting!
CWYWF: Pet Portraits
Finished some color + shape studies based on patron pets for Create What You Want Friday! Thank you Martyn,Third,my parents lol, Gandeldalf,Ptolemios, and Aelius! My restraints for this was: single layer for color (except backgrounds)hard brush, no blending or opacity change (though I did do a little soft brush for the background on Martyn's and the shadow under my parents' dogs)no eyedropperI managed to finish these in about 3 hours which...
